Aluminium is considered in various domains as one of the best packaging product. As we all know it, its applications ranges from pharmaceutical ones to cosmetics.
Aluminium market
Whatever the application, aluminium is more attractive than most of other packaging materials. It can be shaped in many forms and can meet all the industry needs. Since 1995, aluminium users and flexible tube manufacturer (such as Alltub Group, one of the most important producers) need more than 1 million tons of rolled aluminium for manufacturing packaging products.
More than 40 % are flexible packaging ones. 60 % of them are semi-rigid and rigid packaging such us containers, cans, trays…
Main applications
Food industry is one of the biggest consumers of aluminium packaging. In fact, this material is better for food storage like butter, cheese, yoghurt, sterilised milk or sweets (ice cream, chocolate boxes, chewing gum …). It is also used as container for juices, soft drinks, beer, ready made meals …
Aluminium foils are used in tobacco industry. In the pharmaceutical division, medical packagings concern ointments, tablets, transdermal systems … Cosmetics are another area where aluminium is highly demanded for manufacturing container: toothpaste tubes, cosmetic tube, shampoo, refreshing tissues…
Most of industrial goods as cartridges, chemicals and glues are also made from aluminium.
More about rigid aluminium containers
Rigid aluminium containers were introduced in 1960. In less than 40 years, their consumption has grown to more than 145 billion cans per year.
This is due to all the advantages we get from using aluminium containers. Can makers use them because they prevent contamination and corrosion. These are not the only benefits of using aluminium.
In an artistic point of view, designing this material is easier than doing the same operation with other ones. Also, the light weight of aluminium cans reduces production and transport costs.
